FAQ
Q: Which registry keys does 7+ Taskbar Tweaker modify? I don't need extra processes in my system.
A: The only registry keys the tweaker modifies are its own settings. There are no registry keys for the options it provides. The tweaker does that by injecting a DLL to explorer, hooking/subclassing/some other methods of the dark side.
As for extra processes, the tweaker is a native program, and is very lightweight. It shouldn’t slow down your system, and uses an extremely small amount of memory. Also, you can hide the tray icon if you want.
In case you want to remove the tweaker's settings from the registry, look for them here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\7 Taskbar Tweaker
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
(7 Taskbar Tweaker
value)
P.S. if you're a programmer, you might want to take a look at the 7+ Taskbar Tweaking Library.
Q: My antivirus complains about 7+ Taskbar Tweaker.
A: It's a false positive. I guarantee that the tweaker binaries (and any other files on this site, unless specifically noted) are 100% clean.
Also remember that the tweaker injects into explorer and modifies its memory, which is indeed suspicious.
Q: Can I Group/Combine/Label only some of the items on the taskbar?
A: Yes, use Taskbar Inspector.
Q: May I use 7+ Taskbar Tweaker in a commercial environment?
A: Yes, feel free to use it wherever you want.
Q: Where is the portable version?
A: When installing the tweaker, choose the Portable type of install, as shown on the image below.
The portable version will be extracted to the selected folder.
Note: If the tweaker is already installed on your computer, the option won't be visible. You can launch the setup with the /portable
command line switch to force a portable installation.
Q: I want to report a bug/suggest a feature! What is the best way to do it?
A: Post it on the UserEcho page.
Q: I want to translate 7+ Taskbar Tweaker to my language.
A: The archive below contains the files needed to be translated.
Please read readme.txt before proceeding.

Hi, wonderful program and thanks for sharing it with the world.
My question is regarding moving the taskbar to vertical position and applying ‘no_width_limit’=1 to make it small.
Even if I lock the task bar, when I reboot, the task bar is unfortunately wide again, even wider than without limit. How can I keep the task bar small without manually readjusting every time?
Thanks!
When 7+ Taskbar Tweaker is started, it should re-adjust the taskbar width to the last used “without limit” width. Is the tweaker being run on system startup on your computer?
PS: Hmm maybe the solution for the small vertical bar is not to lock the task bar. Am I correct?
It shouldn’t matter, both should work.
Thank you for such a wonderful program.
Can I a tweak for only just to get the effect of “no_width_limit=1”? As I am not using any other features of 7+.Also, this program needs to load at startup so it takes a bit of time to become narrow, I want to modify my system to get this effect, can I get help on this?
I am on windows 10.
Well, this option is not built into Windows, and 7+ Taskbar Tweaker doesn’t just set a flag. The tweaker manipulates explorer to make the taskbar narrower, and thus it has to be running. There’s no way around it. See also the first question of the FAQ above.
Love your app, thanks so much! The download link for the latest version has been broken for a few days however, thought you should know.
Thanks, I’m glad that you like the tweaker 🙂 there were several issues with the website hosting lately, but I don’t remember that it lasted so long (a few days). Hopefully the issues are gone now.
Still not working 🙁 Error 522 from cloudflare
The file loads on my computer. Can you post a screenshot?
I know that my hoster bans some IPs, e.g. users from Ukraine reported that they cannot access the website. But then the whole website is unavailable, while for you it sounds like only the exe shows an error.
EDIT :
It looks like it’s probably related to “HTTPS Everywhere”
type extensions. I added rammichael.com to it’s whitelist
(While on rammichael.com page, LMB click on “HTTPS Everywhere” toolbar icon, clicked check box for “disable
HTTPS Everywhere”)
After doing the above, I had no Err:521 (Web server is down) Cloudflare screens. (tried six times)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, clicking “Web page” attempts to open :
rammichael.com/7-taskbar-tweaker
I’m guessing it has something to do with the newest
update(s) of Firefox Quantum -&- “HTTPS Everywhere”
and other such HTTPS forcing extensions.
(it, of course, attempts to force it to:
https://rammichael.com/7-taskbar-tweaker)
Maybe it’s also relates to when, as it does for me, Firefox(FF)
usually pops-up a “User Account Control” protection window whenever a new tab in FF, external to FF, is requested to be opened to connect to the internet.
Hi i’m using “disable_topmost = 2” and it works great except for the start menu. I have the taskbar on the left, and when i open the menu it is positioned over the taskbar, and i have to close it in order to access my pinned programs. Is there any to move the start menu slightly to the right or show the task bar without opening the star menu with a single hotkey?
Hi Marchin,
Please see my reply here:
Hi, is there a way to hide labels for only some apps?
So, most of my open apps have both the icon and text visible, but for some of them, I want to only see the icon.
That way apps like WhatsApp, where there is only 1 instance, take up less space and text for other apps is easier to read.
Taking another step forward, and I’m pretty sure I’m approaching feature request territory here – it would be cool to have right-click options to combine-decombine, hide-show label on a per-app basis
Hi,
Yes. See the third question of the FAQ at the top of this page.
Currently, there are the “Decombine: Active group” and “Decombine: On mouse hover” options. For now, I don’t plan other options.
Check the
right_drag_toggle_labels
advanced option.Thanks for the quick reply. That’s exactly what I was looking for.
Have a nice day.
Es gab ein neues Update für die 1809 Version im Release Preview Ring
auf Build …..346, seitdem funktioniert taskbar tweaker beta 3 nicht mehr.
Kann seine dll oder sowas nicht laden.
Sorry, I don’t speak German. Perhaps you’re seeing the following issue:
https://tweaker.userecho.com/communities/1/topics/852-7-taskbar-tweaker-could-not-load-library-5
I haven’t yet looked at it.
I just updated Windows and now the taskbar is broken. I’m getting the Could not load library (1004) error message, although sometimes it’s 5 or 1007.
Thanks.
I’ve released a new beta version, v5.6.0.4, which should fix the incompatibility. Please try it and let me know if there are any other issues.
first of all I love the program. Is there any posibility to add a funtion that makes the taskbar even thinner when it is placed on sides of the screen?
https://gyazo.com/1f915ff62d23425c9c588df2088e6df4
Are you familiar with the
no_width_limit
advanced option? It does exactly that. See here.I see! thank you so much. keep up that great work dude!
It seems that “Drag within/between groups using right mouse button” doesn’t seem to be working properly. The item just jumps all over the taskbar and if it had a hidden label then the label reappears again.
If it helps here are my settings:
http://cactuspie.com/snapshots/4sUlhT.png
Since you’re using “Don’t group”, you won’t be able to create groups right away with this option. You need to understand that the option acts as a shortcut to changing the AppId of the target window. You can play with it in Taskbar Inspector and see how it behaves.
Now, if you’re using “Don’t group”, the only AppIds that will group are
random_group_xxxxxxxx
groups and AppIds that you chose to always group in Taskbar Inspector. So, one option to create a group is to do the following:random_group_xxxxxxxx
(that’s also why the label may re-appear, depending on your settings).random_group_xxxxxxxx
, a group can be created even though “Don’t group” is set.my anti-malware warns me about the newest version
False positives are unfortunately common for new versions of 7+ Taskbar Tweaker and for beta versions which are less common. Please contact your anti-malware company and ask them to remove the false detection. Also, see the FAQ above and this blog post.
I have this issue where Windows Explorer will sometimes appear over the top of full screen video, like the HTML5 player on youtube for example.
I don’t know what is causing this or how to fix it, but I know it is linked to 7TT because it goes away when I terminate the 7TT program.
I am using version 5.6 with Windows 10 Pro 1803
That’s not necessarily means that it’s caused by 7+ Taskbar Twekaer. The tweaker does some taskbar state “refresh” when it launches and terminates, so perhaps that just happens to temporarily fix the issue. If you can, try find a way to reproduce the issue, and I’ll check it out.
Thanks to fast update
Tried to upgrade to 5.6.1 but my A-V barfed on it and removed it.
I would like to try (re-)installing 5.6.0 (which works fine).
Please, how can I d/l the 5.6.0 setup?
Same here. I cannot install 5.6.1 either as well. H can I download a previous version?
I use Avast, which blocked 7tt from being installed. I had to disable its “shields” temporarily, and then 7tt installed.
You can get previous versions of the tweaker here:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/mcbychsh0xc1dvu/AAC7NwQTQ-tOTNL2BUZ_CwUua?dl=0
Awesome, link worked great, reinstall kept my selections and everything. I only wish more people knew about and learned from you and this site.
That’s right! That’s right! Why, because the toolbar has more malware after each update. And now 2 Trojans. You have to delete the stuff.
is there any posibility to make the taskbar full transparent or full glass? love the program again 😀 .
Not with 7+ Taskbar Tweaker. I know there’s the TranslucentTB project which is designed for this, but I haven’t used it myself.
I get the error “could not load library (1004)” on Windows 10 insider build 18312.1007 after the software updated to v5.6.1
Please check and post your version of explorer.exe. Go to the
C:\Windows
folder, locate theexplorer.exe
file, go to Properties -> Details, and look for the file version.The explorer file version is “10.0.18312.1001”.
That’s tricky. Since 10.0.17763.346 (after 10.0.17763.107), a breaking change was introduced by Microsoft, and I changed the tweaker to apply the fix for every version newer or equal to 10.0.17763.107. Apparently, the change isn’t there yet in 10.0.18312.1001, because even though it’s a newer version, it’s a parallel branch. I don’t want to make yet another change to accommodate for the insider versions, especially since it will probably get the change soon too.
Meanwhile, you can downgrade to v5.6, and upgrade back when your computer gets the breaking update. You can get previous versions of the tweaker here:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/mcbychsh0xc1dvu/AAC7NwQTQ-tOTNL2BUZ_CwUua?dl=0
I will be reverting back to official build of windows soon. Thanks for your help I appreciate it.
The tool xxxxx contains 2 trojans and 4 malware pests. Please take the mess off the net immediately.
What you see are false positives, which are unfortunately common for new versions of 7+ Taskbar Tweaker and for beta versions which are less common. Please see the FAQ above and this blog post.
Thank you for this wonderful program. Been using this for years and years. It’s been working so seamlessly that I’ve even forgotten that this is running in the background all the time! 🙂
Version 5.6.1: F-Secure reports “Trojan-Dropper (Generic)”.
That’s probably a false positive detection. False positives are unfortunately common for new versions of 7+ Taskbar Tweaker and for beta versions which are less common. Please see the FAQ above and this blog post.
Hi, I find this programme really useful, but it’s been flagged as dangerous by my anti-virus software (avast) and has been moved to the virus chest. Any ideas why? I’d like to keep using it if possible, but only if it’s safe. Thanks, Rob
Hi Rob,
That’s probably a false positive detection. False positives are unfortunately common for new versions of 7+ Taskbar Tweaker and for beta versions which are less common. Please see the FAQ above and this blog post.
Ok, thanks for the update. Regards, Rob
How do I download the beta version? I cant see a link. I’ve donated and have a personal experimental support code. Thanks, Rob
Thank you for the donation Rob! There’s no beta version at this time that provides features that are not available in the latest version. Once a beta version will be available, you’ll be able to use the support code with it.
Hi, ok, I wasn’t looking for additional features, just trying to get a version that works without my anti-virus giving it a false positive. is there a workaround? Rob
That’s not something I can control, unfortunately. Since the non-beta version (v5.6.1) was released more than two weeks ago, I think that Avast shouldn’t react on it anymore. Please try it again.
Hi, ok thanks. I just tried again and it’s still blocking it.
The file appears to be clean on VirusTotal according to Avast. Make sure that you have the definition files updated. If that doesn’t help, you can try whitelisting the file. For further help, please contact Avast.
My definition file is up to date, and its still flagging the software. I’ve whitelisted it, so no problem, thanks for your help.
First let me say that this is a great tool that makes up for ridiculous shortcomings of Windows task bar.
Unfortunately in my companies infinite wisdom the security team has denied my request for an exception for task bar tweaker because the security software flags the memory access as suspicious.
The one main feature I find that I cannot live without is the ability to not have the task bar items force put together. My preference is the last instance of a program appears at the far right not next to all the other applications of the same type.
My question is if there is any other way to achieve this or if an option could be available that would not trigger security software?
It depends on the security software. It might be possible to use a different mechanism of running code inside explorer, such as registering a shell extension. If you’re a programmer and want to explore this possibility, you can use this article of mine which explains which function should be patched and how for ungrouping. It’s in Russian, but you can use Google Translate.
Another option is to make every window have a different AppId. You can set an AppId for a window using a function like this. There are drawbacks to this method, e.g. you’ll lose things such as pinned items on the taskbar items’ right click menu.
Hi, just wanted to say that there’s a big warning from windows 10 when I try to execute this, and afterwards Avira detects this as a virus, grab it and launch a system scan.
This is a brilliant tool to move windows previews, but lately following an update of the program (it was no longer working on windows 10 due to windows update) I get this error, as a result I cannot take the risk to use it on professional pc. something’s fishy.
Hi,
That’s probably a false positive detection. False positives are unfortunately common for new versions of 7+ Taskbar Tweaker and for beta versions which are less common. Please see the FAQ above and this blog post.
I can understand your concern, and I suggest you to contact Avira for a clarification. I’m pretty sure that you’ll get a response saying that the detection is a false positive.
I’m going to report to F-Secure, they usually fast with exclusions of false positives.
Recent Windows Update prevents taskbar tweaker launch – says could not load library 5 ….. could you please look into it and provide an updated version! thank you so much!
KB4482887
KB4486553
OS Build: 17763.348
Update KB4482887 introduced an incompatibility with 7+ Taskbar Tweaker v5.6. Updating to v5.6.1 should solve the issue.
thanks! working again!
Where or how can we get the new beta version?
There’s no beta version available. Perhaps you’re asking because the recent update of Windows 10, KB4482887, introduced an incompatibility with 7+ Taskbar Tweaker v5.6. Updating to v5.6.1 (not a beta) should solve the issue.
Hi
Please could you give a link to the last beta you had up… this would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Hi,
I don’t know why you’d want it, but it’s available here.
Hi! Thx for the wonderful app!
I’ve been using 7+ Taskbar Tweaker to manually reorder items that belong to the same app (group).
My Windows 10 has updated to build 17763 — and the app would no longer start: it crashes with error code 5.
Please help. I can provide more feedback if necessary.
Ah! Updating to 5.6.1 resolved the issue for me. Thx!
The last 3-4 days it doesn’t work after restarting the pc and I have to re-install it.
Today after re-installation the pc was crushed. I restarted the pc,and then 7-task tweaker was not installed.
I am using 5.6.1 but the problem remains.
Are you using an insider build? If you are, please see my reply here. If not, please provide more details: what do you mean by “the pc was crushed”? Do you get an error message? What exactly does it say?
Hi,
I was meaning that the explorer process was crashed even I was restarting it. Finally I restarted the windows.
I don’t know what is an insider built. I used the last version that I downloaded from here.
Do you get an error message? It would be best if you could record a video of what’s going on, because it’s difficult for me to understand your description.
I’ve been using 7+ Taskbar Tweaker for a long time. After this new update, it doesn’t work anymore. I install it, the icon goes to the notification area, but it simply doesn’t do anything. If I right-click, it shows nothing, even for the other icons.
Also, once I turn my pc off and turn it on again, taksbar tweaker is not installed anymore.
Which version of the tweaker do you have? Are you using an insider build of Windows? Do you get an error message? If you do, what exactly does it say?
I was using version 5.6.1. I don’t know what is an insider build of Windows, so probably no. I am using Windows 10 Home (version 1803 – OS Build 17134.472). I do not get any error message.
OK, do you have a security software such as an antivirus or an antimalware? Since you’re saying that the tweaker is not installed after a restart, perhaps it’s being removed by a security program.
There is a real possibility of my antivirus be removing the tweaker. I just checked here, and 7tt_setup.exe is on the “Virus Chest” of my antivirus. Anyway, I have downloaded version 5.6(.0) and it is working normally here, so my problem is solved.
Is it possible to download older versions of 7+ Taskbar Tweaker?
Yes, you can get previous versions of the tweaker here:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/mcbychsh0xc1dvu/AAC7NwQTQ-tOTNL2BUZ_CwUua?dl=0
Hi,
During last update my company security settings blocked installation of newest 7TT.
Request for “7tt_setup.exe” is Rejected
Approval Response: File is malicious and banned. Kindly ask you to remove this from your machine.
This security system is provided by Parity. I wonder if something changed in last version that might be the cause or rather they just woke up that it uses DLL injection to work.
Currently running 5.6
Update blocked by security 5.6.1
Hi,
Nope, nothing that’s related to injection.
Either that, or maybe they falsely detect the new version of the tweaker as malicious. Perhaps you can contact them for a clarification.
For 7+ Taskbar Tweaker, a really useful feature would be to right click on a taskbar item, and then be able to change the label/name. Any chance that could be included in a future version?
Hi,
Is it possible for Tweaker to sort the taskbar items when grouped? For example, if I have a bunch of explorer folders opened, they group in the order they are opened, eg:
r:\folder1
c:\videos
p:\music
c:\data
f:\etc…
…I would rather that when I open explorer folders they group in a sorted fashion like:
c:\data
c:\videos
f:\etc…
p:\music
r:\folder1
Is this possible?
Hi,
Yes, it’s possible to sort items in a group with Taskbar Inspector. See here for a screenshot. That’s also possible to configure a mouse shortcut for sorting with the advanced options, see the help file for more details.
Thanks, I see that.
Is it possible to have Tweaker do this automatically when new windows are opened? I just tried sorting the windows manually as shown, and it worked, but then when I opened C:\ it ended up at the end of the list again, not sorted.
No, but as I said, you can configure a mouse click for sorting more quickly. For example, you can configure Ctrl+Click to sort the group under the cursor.
Awesome, that worked well, and is a reasonable workaround! Thanks!
Hello 🙂
Thx for your wonderful program.
I have a little problem for a few days.
I have reinstalled the latest version of the program, but every time I restart my computer, the program is no longer there.
It’s as if he’s deleted himself.
I just tried to reinstall it right now. When the program opens it removes itself directly and closes all my open windows.
I feel like it’s due to a Windows update
Any Idea ?
Sorry for my English
Hi,
My guess would be that your antivirus falsely detects the tweaker as malicious and removes it. Check your antivirus logs, and maybe try whitelisting the tweaker files.
Hi,
You were right, it was the antivirus that blocked the prorgam.
By cons I had no warning on the antivirus blocked your program
It is on my whitelist and since then I have no problem.
Thank you so much
Oh, it was AVAST, the Antivirus
I just found out about this Tweaker, Love it, Thank you!
About configuring the Mouse wheel:
Not important but it took me a while figuring out the difference of ‘taskbar’ and ‘notification area’ with ‘Control volume ..’, worked alike for me.
Then a realized the obvious.. I already had ticked ‘Cycle between windows’ and of course then volume control only worked in the notification area despite the choice I made.
Maybe a hint until next version.
Thanks for the feedback Erik.
That’s not entirely correct. Volume control should have also worked in the region to the left of the task list, such as over the start button.
Thanks for your answer.
You are correct.
The thing that got me so confused was the translation to Swedish:
Aktivitetsfältet – Taskbar
Aktivitetsfältytan – Taskbar area (!)
What’s the difference..
The Swedish version of Windows talks about:
Taskbar – Aktivitetsfältet (=ok)
Notification area – Meddelandefältet (~message area)
No problem, just me who is clumsy..
I don’t speak Swedish, so I can’t comment on this. Do you think that “Aktivitetsfältytan” should be changed to “Meddelandefältet”?
I would say yes, that’s the naming Windows use. Right now it’s hard to tell the difference.
(Don’t know how to attach a screen shot.)
Done:
I’ve also made it a little more compact. The change will be available in the next version.
Hello. I am sure you already know, but on the small chance that you do not, 7+TT did not survive last night’s Windows 10 Cumulative Update. It usually does survive the monthly updates, but not this one. Received a “could not load library” error message. I hope this helps.
Update: I just found and installed the most recent version available – 5.6.1 – and the program is up and running again. So if anyone else finds that 7+TT is not working for them today, this worked for me.
Yep, I just had that same issue with the new Windows update (today is March 13, 2019).
I just upgraded Taskbar Tweaker to version 5.6.1, and it works great as of the new Windows updates.
Thanks for such a great and useful program Ram Michael =)
Does the program have the ability to save open tabs?
Like getting back the accidentally closed tabs.
What do you mean by “open tabs”? If you mean re-opening a window which was accidentally closed, there’s no such feature. It would be tricky to implement correctly, since the way to re-open a closed window can be different depending on the application.
Hi, amazing utility, I have been using it for ages. I would like to suggest an addition though, that would help a lot. For the Taskbar Items, could you add the option to show i. Thumbnail preview ii. List iii. Tooltip also for Right-click and Middle-click conditions as well? Because I have set Hovering to do nothing and there is no other way to access the tooltip or the list view as a result. Many thanks and keep up the great work!
Hi,
If I understand your suggestion correctly, this advanced option can help you achieve what you’re asking for:
https://i.imgur.com/CQj6vxH.png
Hi, yes that’s what I was suggesting. Value -7- for “Show thumbnail preview” works great. However, there’s no available value for the “List” option (like the one available for Hover). Is this something you could add easily?
You can use this registry tweak to have a list view instead of the thumbnails.
Having issue getting 7TT to run at Windows startup, but No issues installing it. Must be due to new security restrictions on my work laptop.
Ways I have been able to get it to run:
1) Safe Mode, but Not really an option.
2) Open Task Manager > File menu > Run new task > type in C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\7+ Taskbar Tweaker\7+ Taskbar Tweaker.exe > Check the “Create this task with administration privileges”
3) Type CMD in either Cortana or Run (win-r) then press they Ctrl-Shift-Enter. This should bring up a True Administrative Command Prompt window. Change directory to C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\7+ Taskbar Tweaker and then run 7+ Taskbar Tweaker.exe
4) I have found no other ways to start 7TT on that laptop. Was not even able to get it work using Task Scheduler.
Unfortunately, Windows will not allow simulated keyboard input in those areas, so no way to start automatically using a macro program and will have to start 7TT manually each time, but better than not being able to run it at all.
Looks like the common property of the four ways is that the tweaker is being run as administrator. It’s not required, but perhaps the security restrictions prevent the tweaker from functioning otherwise.
What about navigating to
C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\7+ Taskbar Tweaker
, right clicking on7+ Taskbar Tweaker.exe
and choosing to run as administrator? Does that work?Also see my reply here.
Hello RaMMicHaeL,
Thanks for the reply!
I tired checking Run As Admin on the exe and I get the same as when I try to run it manually from the Start Menu. It gets me a 7TT icon in the system tray that disappears when I mouse over it. 7TT does not show up in Task Manager.
This morning, I’m not able to get this (Type CMD in either Cortana or Run (win-r) then press they Ctrl-Shift-Enter) to work.
But doing this ( Open Task Manager > File menu > Run new task > type in C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\7+ Taskbar Tweaker\7+ Taskbar Tweaker.exe > Check the “Create this task with administration privileges”) still works.
I tried the Task Scheduler as well. I trigger At Log On and Run With Highest Privileges. When I run with a 0 to 2 second delay, I get ‘7TT could not find the Taskbar’ error message. If I run with 3 seconds or longer I get the disappearing 7TT icon in the system tray.
Anything else you can think of for me to try?
Back when I first got this laptop I had similar issues, but was able to get it to work by doing this:
1) Install 7TT V5.4, gets DLL error message.
2) Boot up with Safemode and install 7TT V6.5.
3) Reboot into normal mode and 7TT worked normally.
Tried to get that to work this time, but no go.
Hi David,
No, not really. It depends on the security restrictions. If you can, it will be best to contact the security product support.
Because of my work, I tend to have a LOT of windows open at the same time. For productivity, it’s critical that I be able to re-arrange the order of open windows, which is why I use Taskbar Tweaker.
Avast however seems to really hate this program. After an avast update, avast raised hell when I started Taskbar Tweaker. It offered to make an exception, but then when I told it to, Taskbar Tweaker wouldn’t respond. It seemed that avast did not actually make the exception rule as, after I killed the tweaker process and started it again, avast would again scream at me, and the entire problem was repeated. I even manually made the exception rule and avast continued to ignore the exception rules for Taskbar Tweaker.
Luckily, what worked was to re-install Taskbar Tweaker.
Hi, I’ve just installed the latest Windows 10 updates on my system, and the Taskbar Tweaker (latest version 5.6.1) doesn’t work anymore.
My winver shows that I am still on v1803 (OS Build 17134.677), and I am getting Could not load library (109) or (107).
Here’s the list of the updates I installed today, from the Windows Update history log:
* 2019-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems (KB4489894)
* 2019-03 Update for Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems (KB4023057)
Hi,
Thanks for the report. It should be fixed in v5.6.2.
I am not sure exactly what is happening, but within the last two days I find that the Taskbar Folders are once again connected and when I check on Taskbar Tweaker 5.6.1 it is NOT LONGER RUNNING! This apparently keeps happening each time I start it up again.. was hoping others could shed some light on this behavior – Bruce Orden
Looks similar to this report, please take a look and see if the information helps in your case.
Hello RaMMicHaeL.
Thank you for your nice app 😉
Just a little problem : when i set w10_large_icons to 1, classic programs icons are nicely restored to 32×32, but MS modern apps icons look blurry (like edge, windows store etc …) with the same parameter.
For exemple, Snip & Sketch modern app 32×32 icon must look like this : https://reho.st/self/a1a74097a3799e012b99f2495a66fd5169a4b2ec.png
With 7TT, same app icon pinned on taskbar (with 32×32 size parameter) looks like this : https://reho.st/self/ea65dd8371f577d17507e52ceac5638ff92a4d7a.png
Zag.
I answer myself : just kill explorer.exe and run it again through task manager —> MS store app icons look better. Voilà !
Hi,
Or disable and re-enable the
w10_large_icons
option. Clearly a bug though, I’m looking into it. Thanks for reporting.Should be fixed in v5.6.2.1 beta, please try it.
Hi,
same bug with 5.6.2.1 beta 😀
Here’s what I see on my computer:
v5.6.2:
v5.6.2.1:
Are you sure that you’re running v5.6.2.1? Can you reproduce it with the settings app?
Perhaps it’s only me …. I only need to quit and run 7+ again to have a clear icon. Thus it’s not a serious problem for me 😀
This bug exists only when I “pin” app on taskbar.
If I open app without pinning on taskbar, there’s no problem, icon looks clear.
Good catch! Try v5.6.2.2 beta, it should fix this scenario. If you find any other case which causes the icons to be blurry, please let me know.
It’s OK. Bug is gone with 5.6.2.2 beta.
Thank you 😉
Hello,
I can’t use Window 7 without my 7+TT.It’s launched at Windows Startup.
Is there a way not to display the main Window of 7+TT at Startup and hide it to the Systray directly ?
Thanks
JP
Hi,
Please see my reply here.
Thanks a lot for your answer and for your essential program.
Problem solved.
Every time I try to update 7TT I get the error:
“””
Error opening file for writing:
C:\Users[name]\AppData\Roaming\7+ Taskbar Tweaker\7+ Taskbar Tweaker.exe
Click Abort to stop the installation, Retry to try again, or Ignore to skip this file.
“””
I’ve tried exiting 7TT and killing explorer.exe to no avail. The only thing that seems to work is completely uninstalling, restarting, then installing fresh, but that’s a pain.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
I have no ideas as of why that happens. None of the other users reported a similar issue. Perhaps your antivirus software locks the tweaker’s exe file for some reason.
Did you verify that the tweaker’s process is not running at that point?
You can also try to find out which program locks the tweaker’s exe file by using one of the methods here:
I love this program. 10/10 for me. I hope you can put the ability to blur or make the taskbar transparent.
Thanks for the feedback!
See my reply here.
Since the most recent 7TT update, I’ve noticed that reordered Chrome windows will randomly revert to the ‘launch’ order. It happens at every unlock event, but will also happen silently during normal use.
7TT version: v5.6.2
W10 version: 10.0.17134 Build 17134
Chrome ver: 73.0.3683.86 (Official Build) (64-bit)
It has been reported before. The tweaker update is unlikely to be related, since the recent updates only contain minor, specific fixes and compatibility updates. My guess would be that it’s related to Chrome’s behavior, but I haven’t had the chance to investigate it yet.
Did you check whether it happens without the tweaker running? If it does, we’ll be able to conclude for sure that it has to do with Chrome.
Yep, without 7TT running the window order still reverts after lock/unlock. Guess it’s Chrome being awkward as per usual.
Just wanted to add that my Avira detected a virus in the setup file, an I’ve submitted it to analysis on their site and it returned clean, and it seems to have been detected due to high heuristics.
I currently have the 5.6.2 version, will you be releasing a new beta anytime soon?
The latest beta version is v5.6.2.2. What makes you ask for a new beta version?
Never mind. I don’t have the new beta. Just downloaded it.
