7+ Taskbar Tweaker allows you to configure various aspects of the Windows taskbar.
Most of the configuration options it provides can’t be tweaked using the taskbar properties or the registry.
The tweaker is designed for Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10.

- 7+ Taskbar Tweaker doesn’t support the Windows 11 taskbar, and probably never will. See this blog post for more details.

FAQ
Q: Which registry keys does 7+ Taskbar Tweaker modify? I don't need extra processes in my system.
A: The only registry keys the tweaker modifies are its own settings. There are no registry keys for the options it provides. The tweaker does that by injecting a DLL to explorer, hooking/subclassing/some other methods of the dark side.
As for extra processes, the tweaker is a native program, and is very lightweight. It shouldn’t slow down your system, and uses an extremely small amount of memory. Also, you can hide the tray icon if you want.
In case you want to remove the tweaker's settings from the registry, look for them here:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run (7 Taskbar Tweaker value)

Q: My antivirus complains about 7+ Taskbar Tweaker.
A: It's a false positive. I guarantee that the tweaker binaries (and any other files on this site, unless specifically noted) are 100% clean.
Also remember that the tweaker injects into explorer and modifies its memory, which is indeed suspicious.
Q: Can I Group/Combine/Label only some of the items on the taskbar?
A: Yes, use Taskbar Inspector.
Q: May I use 7+ Taskbar Tweaker in a commercial environment?
A: Yes, feel free to use it wherever you want.

7+ Taskbar Tweaker tries to create the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\7 Taskbar Tweaker\Labeling
But gets an “access denied” error.
I don’t know why that happens.
Maybe running the tweaker as administrator will solve this.
Did not help. anyway. I deinstalled the programm and then i deleted the complete Key ‘HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\7 Taskbar Tweaker’ in the registry. Then installed it new and it worked!

Anyway, no, such app is no planned. Surely it has nothing to do with 7TT as it’s not really related to the taskbar.

As commands could be : Window Size / Position
And Parameters could be numbers specify: Length-Width / Top-Left corner.
I didn’t think of any other way to implement this in 7TT.
I remember we had discussed once to make Taskbar Inspector a kind of Windows Manager (adding to TI context menu & Advanced Options actions like: Always on Top, Close, Minimize to tray, Hide… applying on: 1 window | 1 app | 1 group | all windows) but I think you didn’t want to take 7+TT to this direction of functionality.

No, I’m not going to do that.
Is there anything wrong with using the tweaker?
1. I don’t like extra process in the RAM and taskmanager.
2. It runs via autorun, i would prefer “service”.
3. If i boot to safemode, i will see again this win7 f***en native interface(with no changes of 7+TT)
4. Patch files can be easily included to windows instalation disks and i will never see this terrible native interface of win7(win8).
5. byt the way, it will be very nice if you can and new options to the program:
– make the system tray shrinked – i mean by deleting huge gaps between icons (horyzontally and vertically), in the clock part – there nesr 4mm extra gaps before clock part and after, make “minimaze all windows” button thinner
-return old options to tools panels – to separate it from task bar and move to what ever place of the screen i want(as it was in XP)
It’s very lightweight, RAM shouldn’t be an issue.
I see no reason for it to be running as a service. A service must be run as administrator, the tweaker doesn’t.
I don’t know about you, but I (and everybody else I know) use the safemode as often as once a year, at most.
I believe that the tweaker can be included, too. On the other hand, if Microsoft will introduce an update to explorer.exe, your modifications will be gone for good.

Not likely to be implemented. I don’t believe it’s worth the effort.
1) I configured the program, and i what that configuration to be saved independantly from the system.
I think there is no such option.
I mean if i login another user, or run this program on anothe machine or vortual system, the options will be default. Can you make it to save options to some ini file in program folder.
2) I get now the lates update. Yes, you made the gaps bitween trayicons less in width. Can you make the same for height?
Even more, I mean, i want all task bar to be less in height. I use it in two lines mode, and there are huge gaps between lines of tray icons, icons of tools panel, taskbar buttons.
3) As i told, i use taskbar in two lines. So i have timearea displaying all – time(hh:mm:ss), day of week, data(dd.mm.yyyy). This option (tray_clock_fix_width) does nothing for me – i didn’t see any changes.
There are still huge gaps(15pxs) right and left from the longest word(day of week)
4) By the way, it will be nice, if you add option to add your program to windows control pannel for easy access to optoions and optionEX. The tray icon of your app is hidden in my case.
Just launch the program from the start menu or from any other shortcut.

No, it works on Windows 7 and up (hence the name, “7+” Taskbar Tweaker).

Jacker: Maybe it’s good you have Vista. I have both (home & work). Vista is far more pleasant on the eyes. Anyways, I prefer Taskbar Shuffle b/c a shadow of the item shows while dragging. In Taskix the items jump from place to place making it hard to follow with the eyes.
Was wondering if it’s possible to request a feature, if it is even possible.
Request: Disable Scrollbar.
I use a vertical taskbar, and in all previous versions prior to 7, when you had too many windows open, it would create a second column to fit all the tasks on the bar. Now, or at least on 7 (haven’t had a chance to touch 8), instead of the second column, it just puts a scroll bar instead. I would idealy like to have that old functionality back.

It’s worth mentioning that the functionality is not easy to implement – Windows 7’s taskbar is totally reworked, so it’s not possible to just revert to the old behavior – it has to be implemented.

after uninstalling the current version and use the 4.3.1 version, it works fine.
Error 102 means that the version of the .exe file and the version of the .dll file don’t match.
This probably happens because your .dll file is locked for some reason. Perhaps because of an antivirus program.
I suggest trying the following:
1. Uninstall 7+ Taskbar Tweaker (settings will be kept). Probably the .dll file won’t be deleted.
2. Restart the system.
3. Remove the .dll file manually.
4. Install the latest version of 7+ Taskbar Tweaker.

Thanks for this awesome app, the “open last window” feature is absolutely fantastic, saved me massive amount of clicks.
Would it be possible to add a advanced decombine setting so that once you hover a item that i can add a “delay” where it will combine back again?
I find the current behaviour a bit awkward, when i hover over a item it will de-combine as expected, but when i accidently go slightly outside the Taskbar it will already combine, while i would rather have that it waits a bit before it combines back, giving it a smoother/more expected result especially because if you use the hover option it will work a bit awkward when when you use Thumbnails as well, as there is a slight space between Item and Thumbnail so it will combine and decombine very fast.
Also a related bug, If you enable “drag to reorder” under Thumbnail and use the Active Group decombine feature, the moment you drag, it will decombine, and stay decombined even though the group is still active.
I hope you understand what i mean 🙂

I could reproduce it, and it seems like this is a bug of Explorer, not the tweaker.
The tweaker uses Explorer’s ‘hot item’ state to decide whether to decombine a group. When you start dragging the thumbnails, they receive focus. When the thumbnails close, Explorer moves the focus to the group, thus marking it as a ‘hot item’. The tweaker considers this as a mouse hover event, and keeps the group decombined.
You can even reproduce this without the tweaker running. Drag any thumbnail anywhere. Then move your mouse outside the thumbnails and wait for them to auto close. You can see that the button group receives focus by it’s color.
It’s not trivial, but I believe it would be possible.

I use three monitors and Taskbar only seems to work on my primary monitor when it comes to “Hovering”. I have it set to do nothing, and it works fine on my primary monitor, but on the other two monitors it shows the thumbnail preview (default).

Are you using the native taskbar on your secondary monitors (Windows 8/8.1), or are you using an additional program (UltraMon, DisplayFusion, etc.)?
I’m running windows 7 and I do use Display Fusion. Could that be the problem?
Yes, that’s it. 7+ Taskbar Tweaker only works with taskbars of Windows. Display Fusion uses it’s own implementation of the taskbar on secondary monitors.
Maybe Display Fusion provides similar option for their taskbars. If not, I’m afraid I can’t help here.

Did the error happen only once, or did you try multiple times?
If it’s the former, perhaps the download failed, and the file was only partially downloaded. Try again.
If it’s the latter, it needs further investigation.
Ive tried several times now even after restarting but same message. Strange.
Did you try downloading the file using your browser? Does that work?
In general, the best I can do is provide you with a debug build, which will show more information about the reason it fails. Are you interested?

I installed 7+TT on my Win 7 Home Premium x32 laptop b/c I wanted something that would allow me to freely arrange taskbar items like Taskbar Shuffle, which I have used for years. Rearranging tabs using 7+TT is easy & smooth. At first I thought it has too many features from looking at the screenshot at the top of this page, but having used it I find most of the features a necessity to tone down a very convoluted Win 7, morphing it into something more user friendly like Vista (YES, I like Vista). Win 7’s GUI is designed to work better with tablets, but if you don’t have a tablet, 7+TT’s “extras” is perfect for the job. Thanks!

The only command line argument the tweaker supports is “-hidewnd”, which starts it with the main windows hidden.

Just switched from Windows 7 to Windows Server 2012 R2. But having a problem with taskbar.
On Windows 7, with new taskbar came up but it has a bug, You can’t make it thinner on side like it’s on the bottom. We find a workaround which requires restarting DWM.
On Windows 8 there are no DWM so we can’t make thin taskbar. So, please add an option to do this on 7+ Taskbar Tweaker.

For now we have :

I was thinking about an option “Show Aero Peek”, which would mimic a mouse hover on the thumbnail preview.
I highly hope it doesn’t require much engineering, so it would make it in a future release !

Какое подозрение оно выбивает?
Может глупость, но мои домыслы были основаны на том, что Яндекс.Диск стоит на трёх компах, а на двух установлен твикер. Так Я.диск как раз на этих двух периодически при загрузке слетает. Может совпадение и причина совсем в другом – тогда извини. Бывает еще explorer слетает и перегружатся.
Если я один такой, то проблема скорее всего в другом…
Скорее совпадение. У мя норм всё с ЯДиском.
Проверься на вирусняк. Либо, у тебя ищё что-то стоит, что конфликтует с твиком.
Твикер не должен влиять на другие программы, только на проводника.
Если получится воспроизвести, дайте знать.

Меня бесит, что нельзя в браузере выделить несколько файлов или папок, управление и пр. На Google drive всё значительно лучше реализовано, жаль что только 15ГБ халявы (

I installed V4.4.5 and have a problem (I use Windows7 64bit):
after starting 7tt the Icon appears on the right corner (that is ok) but when I am moving to that icon by mouseover the icon disapears…. 🙁 so I cannot open the settings…. 🙁 🙁
Looks like the tweaker terminates right away after it’s being launched.
You can verify my assumption with Task Manager: do you see the tweaker’s process there?
I don’t know why it happens. Understanding what’s going on will require some investigation. I can send you a custom debug build to see where the process is failing. Are you interested?

Was looking for a way to drag the taskbar thumbnails. This app does the trick so well!
Was wondering if you are able to add an option to center the taskbar items? Not a big deal if you can’t.

Trying 7+TT now on Windows 7: Is there a setting to prevent the taskbar from being always-on-top? That is, so other windows will move over top of the taskbar instead of sliding under it, the way it used to work in Windows 98 and XP. The taskbar always being on top of everthing else is annoying, and Auto-hide is even more annoying. Thanks.

Hi, I would like to see it have the option to always be on top, even of fullscreen applications. I would like to see it while connected to Remote Desktop multiple monitor style. And one monitor is flipped, so split screening does not help. I may be one of the few that find it helpful, but giving it a try.

Thanks dude, please add an option to maximize/restore-down a window by middle clicking its taskbar button, it’s the only thing I miss about Taskix. A small gripe – it’d be nice if I could choose to cycle the buttons from left to right by scrolling up instead of down.
