7+ Taskbar Tweaker v4.3, now with Windows 8.1 support

7+ Taskbar Tweaker v4.3 is out, which finally introduces support for Windows 8.1.
In addition, the new version contains some bug fixes and small improvements, so it’s a recommended update even for non-Windows 8.1 users.

My current version is 4.2.7, and I’m running Win7 64-bit. When attempting to update to version 4.3, I get a message indicating something like:

…7tt_setup.exe cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit versions of Windows.”

Please ignore my previous complaint regarding the “incompatibility” message. I got that error while I was on my company’s VPN.

After disconnecting from VPN, I was able to update to v4.3 on Win7 64-bit without issue.

I don’t know what I would have done without 7+TT to fix the taskbar. I am waiting for 7+TN to be updated too. 🙂

    Hello.

Just wanted to say that your tool made my experience under Windows 7 (and now Windows 8.1) so great that I began to question my convenience from years of daily Windows XP usage.

I’m still using XP mostly, and sometimes when I need to close some window I’m unintentionally middle-clicking its taskbar button…

It’s a pleasure to know there is such a software and it’s done this good. It goes so deep under the hood of OS, and yet I’ve never had a problem with it.

And thanks so much for keeping it free.

This is great. Maybe an idea for Windows 8.1 is an option to remove the start button.

Where is this option (hiding the start button) in 4.3.1?

you know what I’d love to see (if it’s possible)? When a Windows Explorer window is opened to a new location, if another window is already open to that location, it closes the already-opened window. e.g. I already have a window opened to C:\Program Files. If I attempt to browse to C:\Program Files in another Explorer window, the first one closes.
Would definitely help cut down on having dozens of duplicate windows (because it’s easier/faster for me to open a new window and browse to a location than to ascertain whether it’s already open and attempt to navigate to it).

    Thanks!

I keep getting a pop-up that a new version is available and I choose update, but it keeps re-installing 4.2.7 and I tried to download a new version from your website and it tells me that 4.2.7 is already installed, and my choices are uninstall and reinstall.

    What gives here?

Explorer crashes if you try minimize with middleclick.
