7+ Taskbar Tweaker for Windows 10 April 2018 Update: early alpha version
A new update for Windows 10, the April 2018 Update (was referred to as the Spring Creators Update, also known as Windows 10 version 1803, code name Redstone 4), is being worked on by Microsoft for a while, and should be released on early 2018. According to online sources, build 17133 should have been the final build to be released to the wide public, but it appears now that the release was delayed (sources: one, two).
As with every Windows update (see previous blog posts), 7+ Taskbar Tweaker needs to be updated to support the new Windows version.
I have been asked by many users to provide an updated version of 7+ Taskbar Tweaker, and since 17133 was believed to be the final version, I began working on it. For now, I did enough adjustments for the tweaker to load without crashing, but didn’t test all of the tweaks. I plan to do that in the near future. As with previous updates, those who contributed to the project can download the early alpha version here (removed) and try it out.

That probably was caused by the
virtual_desktop_order_fixadvanced option. This should be fixed in the latest alpha version, please try it.5.4.9.3 no crash, thank you.

Annoyingly it looks like due to a last minute bug, 17134.1 is now the new version, renamed “April Update” and being officially released on Monday 30th (so most folk won’t get it until May!)

Damn. Upgraded to Windows 10 form 7 & now this app is not working.
All I want is Middle-Click Taskbar app close & Uncombine without Labels.

This’s a wonderful tool. I won’t update to April Update until new 7+ Taskbar Tweaker version releases. Because it’s hard for me to use Window OS without 7+ Taskbar Tweaker, now.

Everything seems to be working so far, great work! I don’t quite remember if previous versions did this, but when hiding the “show desktop” button there is some blank space to the right of the notifications button. Can that be removed?
Ths for reporting erro, that makes 7 taskbar tweaker more perfectly.
It was like this before. That blank space is a part of the button, and is clickable even though the color is not changing on hover. I don’t know why Microsoft chose to design it that way. I might look at providing an option for this someday in the future.

I’ve downloaded the Alpa but can’t install it. I keep getting errors and have tried .1, .2, and .3.
No matter what, I keep getting an error saying “Error opening file for writing”.
Any suggestions? I miss 7+ Taskbar Tweaker so much since the latest stupid Windows update killed it.

I figured it out. I had to run the install .exe as an administrator and it installed without issue. The program is working perfectly for me so far.

The alpha installer is being detected as a threat by MalwareBytes.

Kind of expected, this program hooks into Windows Explorer in weird and undocumented ways in order to modify it.
If you don’t actually know what the program is, it’s gonna look suspicious.
That makes perfect sense.
It’s clean on VirusTotal. Perhaps the detection was already removed. If not, please contact MalwareBytes.

Can the dev please tell when the alpha will be released as beta? I haven’t donated (as I am a student and don’t have the finances 🙁 ) so just can’t get the alpha. I really miss this application. :'(

Avira Antivirus claims your alpha early releases contain TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen Malware inside them, is this true? I want to use this, but my system says it is dangerous
That’s a false positive. Another user reported it as well, which is weird since there’s no detection on VirusTotal.
Please contact Avira about the detection, hopefully they will remove the false positive.
I’m also getting a failure from attempts to even run the file before Avira quarantines it
You should update the title of this post from “Spring Creators Update” to “April 2018 Update” as that’s what it’s called since being released officially. Would you please add HTTPS to your website as well? HTTP is being marked as not secure by browsers now. I can’t wait until the new version of 7+ Taskbar Tweaker comes out 😀
