7 Taskbar Tweaker v3.0

7 Taskbar Tweaker v3.0 is here!

New options in this release:

  • Mouse wheel options. You can scroll between taskbar items with the mouse wheel, as well as minimize/restore a window when hovering a taskbar item or a thumbnail.
  • Decombining the active group. This option will keep the currently active group decombined, similarly to the “decombine on mouse hover” feature.

Also in this release:

  • New interface logic. The options are now divided into three categories: Taskbar items, Grouping and combining, and Other, which will make it easier for you to navigate through them, and will make it easier for me to add new options. Special thanks to Arcyon for giving me some tips about the interface.
  • Improved stability. The previous versions had some flaws regarding thread safety. This could rarely lead to a crash, a Taskbar Inspector window that does not close, or some other issue. The new version fixes these.

I’ve also made a video that demonstrates the new (and some of the old) features:

P.S. Not all the languages form the previous version are available in the new one at the moment, sorry for that.

Thanks so much for the update! The mouse wheel minimize/restore is great!

Some feature requests for 7 Taskbar Tweaker:

    1. Instead of hovering over taskbar thumbnail to minimize, can you add click? Currently clicking any thumbnail always restores it, no way to minimize by left clicking a thumbnail.

    2. More options for Taskbar Inspector:
    a. Option to only show running programs and not pinned apps.
    b. App name column.
    c. Ctrl+A to select all like Task Manager allows.
    d. Checkboxes to select apps using only the mouse (so no keyboard Ctrl or Shift keys required to select multiple apps)

Windows 7.
    http://vrublevsky.org/z/2011-10-30-13-30-23.png

      • VEG says:

    Thanks again,
The only remaining feature I wish and miss from XP days is a reverse highlight for the taskbar items. I have hard time recognizing the active button in the taskbar. XP used to show the active window with dark/pushed color while Win7 makes it glow. It is hard to distinguish (without extra effort) between shiny non-active taskbar buttons and active ones.
I already have set the transparency to zero and changed the contrast but still the “pushed button is active” is something I really am missing.

Video demo on 7 Taskbar Tweaker is confusing without audio assistance. You’re just clicking & clicking here and there not knowing what you are trying to achieve. Please do a re-make of the video tutorial with vocal explanations to better understand what the ‘tweaker’ can do. Thanks a lot.

awesome apps! i’ve been searching this kind of app for couple days. and now, i’m happy! thank you very much! 🙂

An option to reverse the mousewheel direction to minimize/restore would be great. I have my taskbar at the top so it it feels like I must scroll the wrong way to minimize/restore a window.

Exactly, the difference between active and inactive application tile is too small.

Maybe 7 Taskbar Tweaker should repair this situtation?

What’s new in the installer released 2011-11-04?

    Thanks.

hello, thanks for this software, in the future you can make language files in txt, ini or similar format in the program folder? this would make it easier to create and update languages.
    sorry for bad english!!

Also another feature I think is stupendous! Drag within groups using right mouse button… Lovin it… it’s just like tab rearrangement in firefox (browers)…
