7+ Taskbar Tweaker v5.0, with Windows 10 support
After extensive alpha and beta testing, 7+ Taskbar Tweaker v5.0, the first stable version to support Windows 10, is available!
I want to thank everybody who supported the porting effort: Mike T, Fraser Ntukula, and other contributors.

if not on Windows 10 (I’m on 8.1) is there a compelling reason to update or not update to v5.0?
No, nothing too significant. In addition to the changes listed in the changelog, a couple of crashes were fixed, but they are rare enough that you’d probably never encounter them.
I wanted to read the new features you had written about when updating but it flew by so quick, could you append them here or is there a hidden way to find it on the program after updating? Also thank you for making our lives that much better.
Do you mean the changelog?
Thank you very much!
My upgrade is finally complete! Great work to you RaM and the port team. :O
Thank you for this version! It works like a charm, and thank you for the Win10 big icons feature! 🙂
Is it possible to disable the color of progress bar in the task bar with 7TT (eg when there is a download with the browser or copying a file)? Thanks
No, 7TT doesn’t have a way to disable the progress bar.
Ok, thanks for your software 😉
It appears that the latest fast ring update (10525) has an adverse affect on 7TT. When 7TT loads it just causes the screen to just keep blinking like the desktop is crashing. As soon as I kill 7TT the issue goes away (but I lose the awesomeness that is 7TT).
Is it available to the masses already, or is it only for insiders? And could you please tell me your explorer.exe file version?
Only for fast ring insiders.
10.0.10525.0 from 8.13.2015 at 3:54 AM
Betas prior to v4.5.10.12 did crash on 10525, but RamMichael fixed it in v4.5.10.12 and I haven’t has the issue since (including in v5.0). Are you sure that you have the latest version installed?
I am on v5. What I see is that when I load 7TT the taskbar just keeps reloading (like it’s crashing) until I kill the process. I’m not running any taskbar folders or anything.
Actually, I think I see the issue. I have Autohide on for the taskbar, and when I load 7TT it bounces between hidden and not hidden but if I turn off autohide 7TT works with no issues. So it appears to me to be an issue between autohide and 7TT.
Ah. That’s unfortunate. I may want to auto-hide the taskbar in the future. Perhaps Michael can find the time to fix it at some point.
I think it’s only for insiders right now, since the watermark is back and says:
Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview
Evaluation Copy. Build 10525
As for the file version, it says it’s 10.0.10525.0. Let me know if there is anything else I can help with!
Thank you a lot for the update and your dedication on that small but helpful utility. ^^
About bugs report I noticed that the tray_icons_padding parameter in Advanced Options seems to not have any effects with Windows 10. Does it is a known bugs?
It’s a known limitation, as mentioned here and in the help file. The tray padding calculation is completely different in Windows 10, due to the tablet mode and other factors.
Love the large icons feature for Win10!
Is it possible for that to also make the Start (windows) icon larger?
Also, my toolbar seems to be flashing occasionally, is that expected behavior?
Thanks!
It probably is, but I haven’t looked at it. I might take a look one day.
I don’t know. Did you try to use your computer without the tweaker, to check whether it’s responsible for the flashing?
Thanks for such a quick reply!
It flashed about 10 times in the first 10 minutes after I installed the Tweaker app (not before) but hasn’t since so I’ll just keep an eye out.
Great tool, appreciate your work on it.
This is the behavior I have seen, except mine flashed every second or so and caused the tray not to load. I’m also hiding the taskbar, so maybe that has something to do with it?
You mean a folder toolbar, like this?
If you’ll find a way to reproduce the issue, please let me know.
Hello, first I must say you are genius, your application is a must have tool for Windows, if I was Bill Gates I would give you million to buy and implement into product!!
Even tho this app is perfect, I am having only one problem on windows 10 with virtual desktops. Every time I switch between desktops the order of taskbar items is changed. Is this something that can be fixed?
Thanks for the feedback.
Yes, I’m aware of the desktop switching issue/limitation. I might look at it in the future, although I hope that Microsoft will fix it in one of the following milestones. Now, with the new approach of frequent releases, I don’t really know what to expect.
True that, I hope they fix is soon. Thanks for reply.
Seconded. Now that 7TT functions in 10, that’s my only issue.
Thanks for the update, RaMMicHaeL!
I used Taskbar Tweaker to hide my tray icons, but I did it months ago and now cannot figure out how to unhide them. Could you help me please?
Are you sure that it was 7+ Taskbar Tweaker? It doesn’t have a feature to hide tray icons.
Hello
is it planned to let the taskbar clock also show number of week and day of week like 1stClock? e.g.
37.KW Samstag 12.09.2015 17:37:27
KW = german Calendar week, Samstag = saturday
thanks
Hi,
No, it’s not planned. You might want to try some of the apps which are designed for date/time customization on the taskbar, such as T-Clock (haven’t tried it myself).
hi, i am running a fresh install of windows 10 home 64-bit, no settings changed, but with your app i am unable to combine grouped taskbar buttons, no matter which combination of taskbar settings i use
Can you please provide a screenshot? Also, can you upload your explorer.exe file?
Hi, I’ve just updated my windows 10 to the newest TH2 preview (build 10565) and the taskbar tweaker just kill the explorer continuously. I don’t know if it’s my unique error, or anyone can meet that. Is that any option to fix that, or I should wait till the next version of the 7+TT?
Hi,
7+ Taskbar Tweaker doesn’t support Windows 10 builds newer than 10240, sorry.
I would like to see a title in the preview when setting is Taskbar buttons: “Combine when taskbar is full” or “Never combine”.
By default Windows shows the title either in the preview or in the taskbar but not in both
Try the
always_show_thumb_labels
advanced option 🙂How can I prevent 7+Taskbar Tweaker v5.1 window from opening at Windows 7 startup?
Thank you in advance.

Splendid and extremely accurate and rapid response.
Indeed I have Adobe Bridge pointing a command line to Tweaker.
Thank you very much.
In windows 7 it is possible to show the day of the week along with the time in the systray (native? not sure it was any utility like 7TT). I currently have a three line display:
HH:mm:ss (24-hour time)
Thursday (day of week name)
09/08/2016
I don’t recall doing anything special except ensuring there was enough height to accomodate all three lines.
Windows 10 only offers two lines, time and date, as far as I can tell. Unless I modify system time format settings, which has impacts beyond the systray clock.
Is there any way to add the day of week name or abbreviation to the Windows 10 systray clock WITHOUT changing the system date/time formatting?
Thank you for any help or ideas.
Increasing the taskbar height should add the day of week natively.
My taskbar is a vertical bar on the right hand side of the screen. No matter how wide I make it, Windows 10 still only offers the two lines, time followed by date. There doesn’t seem to be any ‘divider’ to raise and make the clock area taller within the bar, as I can do with the quick launch area near the ‘top’.
You gave me an idea. I moved the taskbar back to the standard bottom position, and the day of week name did natively appear with enough ‘height’. So apparently this is a Win10 problem. Win7 shows the name fine when the taskbar is vertical on the right as I prefer it to be.
Thank you for your reply.
I don’t know why it doesn’t work for you with a vertical taskbar. It works for me on Windows 10.

I made the taskbar really wide and still no day of week name.

I’ve done nothing custom (except for 7+TT – and taking 7+TT off didn’t make any difference as expected). Win10 Pro fully up to date on a Surface Pro 3 tablet.
Thanks.
Seems like it’s resolution/DPI dependent. See the following answer.
You might want to try the T-Clock program for customizing the tray clock. I haven’t tried it myself, but it seems to offer many customization options.
Spot on. My tablet is set at 150% (the default setting which is also marked by Win10 as recommended setting). The day of the week name suddenly appears only when set to 100%. 100% is way too small for me on this 12″ tablet. Thanks for the answer and T-Clock program suggestion, I will take a look at it.
Speaking of the Quick Launch (http://rammichael.com/7-taskbar-tweaker-v5-0-with-windows-10-support#comment-7109), if any update to Taskbar Tweaker included a simple checkbox or two to put it back on the Taskbar in Windows 7, it would be pretty much perfect. I really don’t know why that wasn’t included already as it seems such a major part and its elimination in Windows 7 particularly reviled.
I only have a shared and admin locked and I’m trying to shorten the time to “correct” the settings which currently mean having to do it all manually — copying the string from online, unlocking, selecting New Toolbar, pasting, moving it to the left, getting rid of Titles and whatever that other setting is, and ugh! See what a pain it is just to type/read it??
If that’s not possible, or until it happens, does anybody know a shorter method, maybe an application to at least put it back on the Taskbar or some drag and drop action, or something? (I’ve just copied the folder and saved it to a flash drive, but as its location is buried pretty deep, the manual method seems far more memorable, at least for right now.
Thanks.
PS: Great tool, BTW, of course, even without Quick Launch included. Thanks for creating it.
