7+ Taskbar Tweaker for Windows 10 Creators Update: beta version

As you might know from my previous post about Windows 10 Creators Update and 7+ Taskbar Tweaker, I was working on an updated version of the tweaker for the new Windows 10 update lately. Last week, I have released an alpha version which fixed all of the known issues with the new Windows 10 update. No other issues were reported, and today I’m happy to announce that 7+ Taskbar Tweaker for Windows 10 Creators Update is publicly available for beta testing!

The beta version can be downloaded here. Please report any issues that you encounter. Thank you, and many thanks for all the supporters who helped me reach the donations goal for the porting effort.

have some problems with Avast & Windows denfender : doesn’t execute at the end of install or freeze my pc a little moment then nothing happen ! i had to reinstall it a second time with antivirus deactivated

  2. Eric says:

I freaking love you dude! Thank you soooo much!

I don’t know what I would do without you. I couldn’t find any other software capable as the one you created.

  3. Greg says:

Had a problem with the Alpha version – for some reason, it disabled my “g”, “h”, and “e” keys on a really new Lenovo laptop. When I uninstalled the alpha, the keys worked again but I lost some functionality in Adobe programs and Steam games.

I reinstalled Windows 10, and all functionality is restored; so I’ll wait a bit before installing this again.

    Thanks for your work RaMMicHaeL!

    • 7+ Taskbar Tweaker doesn’t do any permanent system changes, all of the changes are being done in memory. After you uninstall the tweaker and restart the computer, the tweaker cannot affect your system in any way. Therefore, I think that something else has caused your issues.

      • Gregory says:

Thanks for the reply – I didn’t mean to make this look bad as I love the software and your work πŸ™‚ I just wanted to make sure by any small chance that it wasn’t a bug and that other people weren’t affected.

        Thanks again RaMMichael!

  4. Carlos Augusto says:

Thank you for beta version , work properly in my pc ! Great job !

  5. Phuongphieudieu says:

it works excellently in my pc. VERY WELL DONE! THANKYOU VERY VERY MUCH!

  6. Is there any way for you to get into a beta program of some sort with microsoft so you can get updates ahead of time, so you have more time to fix stuff that breaks?

  7. Ton says:

I’d love to try it, but Norton Internet Security says there’s a trojan in it named “Trojan.Gen.8 [Symantec]” and directs to their link for info about it:
    https://us.norton.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2016-121208-2853-99
This is probably a false positive (for instance Malwarebytes says it’s okay), but having bad experience in the past with so called false positives, I do not dare to try it out just now. This warning was also given for the previous alpha/beta version. The last normal release is considered clean, by the way.
Can you perhaps contact the people at Norton / Symantec to sort this out?

  8. Sven says:

    As already reported by French-Moebius:
Windows Defender and Antivirus (in my case Avira) are reporting a dangerous executable; namely “TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen”, see analysis of some scanners here:
    https://www.virustotal.com/de/file/52319e872fdaead975c73b101baa6d242cd4a6a9dda05b2f2d3cc9f5311d31fa/analysis/1494009192/

    What’s next? I don’t want to disable the Antivirus for setup… πŸ™

    • Sven says:

Still the same report on Beta 5.2.9.5 !
Could you please try to investigate this? I never got virus reports with the older versions…

  9. French-Moebius says:

all is working fine ! this tool is so useful and great ! keep on the good work πŸ™‚

  10. pinkfloyd says:

    Works pretty well for me.

Just one bug ‘control volume on task bar’ doesn’t work, but work for systray

Thanks for your work btw !

    • I tested it, and it works on my computer. Perhaps you have an additional tweak which uses the mouse wheel, such as “Cycle between taskbar buttons”, or the advanced option “multipage_wheel_scroll”.

  11. Dan82 says:

First off thanks for working so diligently on this application, it was a life saver under Windows 7 and now I am glad to still be able to use it with Win 10.

The one thing I noticed immediately was that the order of taskbar items was mixed up when I started playing around with the “Grouping” or “Combining” settings. Once I switched between “Group by Application ID” and “Don’t group”, one pinned application with two windows and thus two items in the taskbar would suddenly find itself out of place at the very left of the taskbar, although that position didn’t correspond with the order of pinned applications. I didn’t notice or remember such behavior from an earlier version I used with Win 7.

Aside from that, things are working fine at first glance and I’m glad to be able to use the taskbar inspector to fine-tune the settings again.

    • Thank you for the feedback. This kind of behavior can be observed for “Modern” apps from the app store, such as the Windows calculator. Is it the case? Unfortunately, I haven’t gotten the chance to look at it thoroughly yet.

    • Actually, I’ve looked at it again, and found another issue, which should be fixed in the new beta version. Please try it.

      • Dan82 says:

Hi, thanks for the reply. I just installed the latest beta and it fixed the issues I were having. It wasn’t about an UWP app before but merely a standard desktop software (Opera Browser in this instance). Now changing the grouping/combining settings doesn’t switch the order anymore, thank you!

  12. GWK says:

    thank god it worked πŸ˜‰

  13. Mauri says:

Installed over the old version and it worked like magic.

During the installation, both W10 Defender and McAfee AntiVirus Plus were active and they said exactly nothing ^^

    Great work, man!

  14. helloE says:

    Hi,
I am using 7TT to managing thinner vertical Windows 10 taskbar on multiple display .
the ‘no_width_limit’ option in advanced options menu is the most effective function of 7TT for me.
But.. it will make my narrowed setting will be concreted on 2nd display.
maybe it seems using same width parameter for different display.
I have to set again & again whenever I restart my computer.
    Could you check this situation?

  15. StoryMaker says:

You are truly doing the Lord’s work. Thank you! I decided to donate for the first time today. Keep doing what you’re doing!

  17. Phuongphieudieu says:

Everything works fine but suddenly I can’t left click (to show/hide desktop) and ctrl+left click (to show Start 10 screen).

Please check it for me. Here’s my 7-taskbar-tweaker’s setting:

  18. Phuongphieudieu says:

Everything works fine but suddenly I can’t left-click on taskbar’s emptyspace to “show/hide desktop”,

and ctrl+leftclick on taskbar’s emptyspace to show “Start 10 screen”,

and ctrl+shift+leftclick on taskbar’s emptyspace to “Switch to the window which is located on the left to the active window on the taskbar”.

it seems something happend between emptyspace and left-click. Because all others option is sttill works very well.

Please check it for me. Here’s my 7-taskbar-tweaker’s setting:

  19. Phuongphieudieu says:

Oh God! everything works fine, now. I’m very sorry, this’s not spam. But I don’t know what happened on my pc. I’m very sorry if my post make you complex. πŸ™

  20. Ton says:

Thank you! This latest beta version passes my antivirus kits, and does the job as intended!
    Thank you for your efforts!

  21. Adi says:

It works. Thank you very much for so useful software windows can’t make of..

  22. Dmitrik says:

Excellent, thanks! But when are you going to release the final version via autoupdate?

  23. billerr says:

I’m on the 5.3 version, and on every startup, the order of the pinned icons is messed up. More specifically, it looks like the first 4 items (file explorer, chrome, steam, spotify) find themselves at the end of the list.
Relocating just the chrome one fixes all 4 of them (relocating the others doesn’t affect the rest).

  24. Alfonso says:

    Hi,
the beta version does not work in Win 10 Creators Update. Same error as with the prior release.

I am using the portable version though.

    Thank you

    • Hi Alfonso,
It’s usually one of the following:
      * You’re using an old version of 7+ Taskbar Tweaker.
      * You’re using an insider build of Windows 10. Insider builds are not supported.

Please check the above, and let me know if you need more help.

  25. John Arthur says:

Thanks for your update. Keep it up.

  26. mmK says:

Hi! The software looks fantastic, but trying to run it causes Windows Defender to pop up a message and delete the executable. I’m using Windows 10, Version 1607, build 14393.1480 (only automatic updates).

I don’t want to disable Defender every time I’m running this, because I would love to run 7+ Taskbar Tweaker all the time. Any advice? πŸ™‚

  27. xpclient says:

Hey I have a request for 7+ Taskbar Tweaker. Can you please include “Open file location” and “End process” verbs in the Taskbar Inspector (where you already have Minimize, Close etc)? πŸ™‚

  28. Kurt says:

Did the Advanced Options stop working under Windows 10? I can’t get to them, not when right clicking the icon and there’s no menu in the window.

  29. Dennis says:

Thanks for posting the beta version of Windows 10. I think Windows has a different meaning of strategic marketing definition when it comes to their products and software. I’m glad the software is reliable.

  30. GusG says:

I’ve been using your Tweaker v5.3 but noticed that the icon sizes increase as does the white space once the computer returns from hibernation or being docked to un-docked. Is there a way to stop this behavior?

  31. 4c3T says:

    This (7T) should’ve been implemented in Windows Vista/7Server 2kx/10!!!

You really really saved my bacon from being completely fried!
I was a hair from going nuts/bananas/certified whacko/insane of that FUBAR grouping of taskbar buttons!

Keep up the good work. I’ll recommend this SW to everyone I know! If I had any money right now I’d donate ‘cos it’s worth something! =0/
